Virgen de la Frontera

Picture
1991
Dyed and silkscreened linen and synthetic threads, barbed wire
 7’ x 5’

My first woven Virgen de Guadalupe. It was the first time I wove barbed wire (5’ lengths) into a woven work. It was the late 80s, early 90s and pretty much the first time ever that anyone wove with barbed wire. Please note, the Lupe image is resist dyed and is kind of spooky – she ain’t too happy!!
