Virgen de los Caminos
1994
Cotton, Silk, Metallic Thread, 5' x 3'
Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC, Permanent Collection
The child quilt was made to honor the child that was being dragged in the CAUTION sign. The blanket was embroidered with the most beautiful flowers, and of course the Virgen de Guadalupe has to be present, always, even beyond death. The familia? As ghosts, stitched forever in the running position.
