REBOZOS FOR OUR MOTHERS

Left to right:
Mother Mundane, 2010

21" x 96"
Virgen de Guadalupe (Spirit), 2013
20" x 70"
Mother Earth (Flower), 2011
20.5" x 85"
Mother Moon (Sky), 2013

20" x 70"
Mother Ocean (Water), 2011

20" x 90"

Woven wire, linen, silk, rayon, gold and silver threads.

Someone needed to weave these powerful Forces their shawls .  All but the Moon (woven in soft cotton), have steel wire as their inner warp.  Mother Earth, of course, is wearing her US/MX border flowers, the Birth Mother flaunts her defining uterus. Mother Ocean is ecologically painfully aware of her precious five seas, and the Virgen de Guadalupe is woven with golden threads that were spun in Japan intended for kimono embroidery!
